The Original Questioned Document
A questioned document is the document that is examined to determine authenticity. The best document for examination is always an original document. If handwriting is being examined, the original tells the examiner which type of writing instrument was used. The original document reveals aspects of writing that cannot be determined from a photocopy. The second best option is a good quality scanned copy of the original document. When the original is not available give the best quality copy of the document to the examiner.
